DA stands for Dissolved Acetylene, a highly flammable hydrocarbon gas (

) primarily used for high-temperature industrial applications. It is called "dissolved" because it is unstable in its pure form and must be stored dissolved in a solvent, typically acetone, within specialized cylinders. 

Key Characteristics & Uses
 It is most commonly used in oxy-acetylene torches for metal welding, cutting, and brazing because it produces the hottest known flame temperature when mixed with oxygen
It is a colorless gas with a distinct garlic-like odor.
Cylinders are filled with a porous substance (like calcium silicate) and a solvent (acetone or DMF) to safely hold the gas at pressure.
In industrial settings, DA gas cylinders are often painted maroon or reddish-brown for easy identification. 







As of early 2025, commercial pricing for DA gas varies by quantity and region: 


Per Kilogram: Approximately ₹350 to ₹450 per kg.
Per Cylinder: Full cylinders can range from ₹1,500 to ₹12,000 depending on the size 
(e.g., 6–7 cubic meters) and whether the price includes the cylinder itself.

Dissolved Acetylene Gas (DA) is widely used as a fuel gas in oxy-acetylene torches for welding, 
cutting, and brazing, providing a high-temperature flame ideal for metal fabrication processes. 
It finds application in glass manufacturing, chemical synthesis, laboratory research, and specialty
