What is R 23 gas

 R23 (Trifluoromethane) is an ultra-low temperature hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant primarily used in specialized industrial and medical applications. In 2025, it remains a critical but highly regulated substance due to its extremely high environmental impact. 

R23 is indispensable for "cascade" refrigeration systems where extremely low temperatures are required: 
Medical & Scientific : Used in ultra-low temperature freezers for blood banks, vaccine storage, and pharmaceutical cold chains (operating at -60°C to -100°C).


Industrial: Applied in environmental test chambers, gas separation, and semiconductor manufacturing to manage precise thermal loads.
